Recent Emergency Relief Efforts

San Marcos Flooding (2015)

In May 2015, record-breaking rainfall caused the Blanco River to overflow, flooding San Marcos and nearby areas. Hundreds of homes were damaged, leaving many families suddenly without basic necessities. Texas Diaper Bank responded by distributing over 10,000 diapers and hygiene products, ensuring parents could focus on recovery rather than worrying about essentials.

Hurricane Harvey (2017)

When Hurricane Harvey made landfall in August 2017, it displaced more than 30,000 people along the Texas coast, with many struggling to find safe shelter. Recognizing the urgent need, Texas Diaper Bank delivered over 200,000 diapers to shelters across Houston and surrounding counties. This rapid response helped families maintain health and dignity amid one of the costliest storms in U.S. history.

Houston Flood (2019)

In September 2019, Tropical Storm Imelda brought torrential rain and flash floods to the Houston area, affecting thousands of households. To support those suddenly cut off from supplies, Texas Diaper Bank provided over 50,000 diapers and wipes, partnering with local relief agencies to reach families in temporary shelters and hard-hit neighborhoods.

COVID-19 Pandemic

As the pandemic led to widespread job losses and financial strain, diaper need surged—an estimated 1 in 3 U.S. familiesstruggled to afford enough diapers. To address this crisis, Texas Diaper Bank worked with local partners to distribute over 100,000 diapers and hygiene supplies, ensuring families facing unprecedented challenges could still care for their children without sacrificing other basic necessities.
